What is BMI?
April 07, 2022Achieving a healthy weight is one of the many factors
contributing to overall health. Learn more about Befour’s line of digital
weight scales that automatically
calculate BMI, and how that ‘number’
can be a starting point in developing a plan for long-term body health.
BMI or Body Mass Index is one of the more widely used calculations in assessing a person’s health. The formula takes into account both the weight and the height of an individual. To calculate BMI, divide your weight (lbs) by your height (in) squared then take that number and multiply by 703 and this is your BMI score. BMI scores are broken out into ‘ranges’ that fall within different categories such as underweight, normal weight, over weight and obese. Determining your initial BMI score and comparing that value against a BMI chart, you will learn what range your score falls within. This can be one of the many steps you take in accessing your body health. Weight is not the one and only factor in determining a person’s health, but obesity can lead to a number of health problems, perhaps some of which are avoidable by maintaining a healthy weight. Befour’s full line of Professional Healthcare Scales all incorporate automatic BMI readouts. The process is further simplified when using a scale that incorporates a digital height rod. Simply step on the scale to capture a +/-0.1 lb accurate weight reading. Once weight is displayed, capture the height value via the integrated digital height rod and the BMI value is automatically calculated and displayed. This value can then be used as a benchmark for maintaining a healthy weight or the starting point in developing a plan to achieve a desired weight and living a healthy lifestyle.
